Sky Bet Online Gambling Selects M&C Saatchi

The Football League is a league competition featuring professional men's association football clubs from England and Wales. Founded in 1888, it is the oldest such competition in the world of football. It was the top-level football league in England from its foundation in the 19th century until 1992, when the top 22 clubs split away to form the Premier League. The Football League has been associated with a title sponsor since 1983 and is now called the Sky Bet Football League after its sponsor, Sky Betting and Gaming. In July of 2013 Sky Bet agreed to a five-year deal to become the new title sponsor of The Football League.

A recent announcement has revealed that Sky Bet, the online gaming subsidiary of UK pay-television broadcaster BSkyB, has appointed M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment to deal with Sky Bet’s title sponsorship of the English Football League.

M&C Saatchi is an international advertising agency network formed in January 1995 by the brothers Maurice Saatchi and Charles Saatchi after they were ousted from the advertising agency group Saatchi & Saatchi which they had founded in 1970.

The well established ad firm was the choice after the usual competitive process. It will create a campaign to demonstrate the online gambling company’s commitment to refurbishing the funding to the game of football. Rob Painter, Sky Betting and Gaming marketing director commented, “The coming together of Sky Bet and the Football League gives us the perfect opportunity to engage with millions of football fans spanning 72 communities,” Painter added, “We feel that the addition of M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment will help us achieve this goal in a truly compelling way and we look forward to working together.”

The CEO of M&C Saatchi Sport & Entertainment, Steve Martin also commented, “We are looking forward to implementing an integrated plan focused around a big, simple idea that we believe will deliver a step change for the brand – and we hope this will become the foundation of a long-lasting partnership.”
