OLG and Bally Strike Betting Solutions Deal

The gambling laws in Canada are clear. It is illegal to use gambling services unless they are provided by government sources. Although it is obvious that Canadians don’t pay much attention to these laws mainly because they are not enforced but there is the possibility that this may soon change.

A recent move by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) will bring Bally Technologies onboard to provide a central gaming system solution throughout the large province. Bally Technologies an online casino and solutions provider based in Las Vegas, will allow the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation to align and comply with ‘conduct and manage’ responsibilities under the current Criminal code in Canada. Founded in 1932, Bally Technologies provides the global gaming industry with innovative games, table game products, systems, mobile, and iGaming solutions that drive revenue and provide operating efficiencies for gaming operators.

OLG is a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games and gaming facilities. Since 1975, OLG has provided nearly $38 billion to the Province and the people of Ontario. OLG’s annual payments to the Province have helped support health care; education, research, prevention and treatment of problem gambling. The deal with Bally Technologies will enable the OLG to implement enhanced responsible gambling tools to the various casino game facilities and operations around the province.

Senior vice-president of North American sales and corporate marketing for Bally, Robert Parente,  commented, “It’s an honour to continue and expand our partnership with OLG to provide leading technology gaming systems throughout the province.” Parente, continued, “This agreement demonstrates our continued commitment to the needs of the Canadian gaming market and we are very excited about working together to help OLG fulfil its modernisation.”

The process the OLG is going through to implement internet betting in the province seems to be taking an extra long time. The search for an efficient and workable solution will be hopefully be provided by the Bally deal.
