Hockey is usually associated with ice and cold climates such Canada and Russia but in Europe the game is different it is played on a field although with sticks that look like ice hockey sticks but smaller. England Hockey and the European Hockey Federation have recently announced they had cut a sponsorship deal with online gambling operator Unibet for the upcoming championship to be held at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London from August 21-30 2015.

EHF president Marijke Fleuren commented on the arrangement, “I would like to congratulate England Hockey on securing a title sponsor for the EuroHockey Championships,” Fleuren continued, “From the outset all the stakeholders agreed that this Championships would be about putting the players first, also a core strategy of Unibet. We welcome Unibet and share its wish for players to play in a fair-play environment."

Unibet is  a founding member of the European Gaming & Betting Association. Sponsorship will help England Hockey deliver a world-class event experience for spectators, athletes and approximately 100 million European TV viewers. The 2015 Unibet EuroHockey Championships for men and women will consist of 40 matches played over a 10 day period at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.  There is a great demand for tickets by fans of the sport so the existing venue will be expanded to accommodate the need. The extra capacity tickets will be made available on April 27th for those who have already booked and on May 1st to the general public.

Phillip Manzi, Unibet’s United Kingdom Country Manager also commented on the opportunity to sponsor the exciting sport,   “We are delighted to sponsor the Eurohockey Championships 2015 and believe this fits in with Unibet’s passionate, friendly and expert values. Unibet prides itself on being the home for all sports, especially those that people are passionate about, and Hockey certainly fits the bill.”
