Online Gambling Operator Betway Joins With PPF

The national organisation for the professional player associations in the United Kingdom the Professional Players Federation represents over 17,500 professional athletes in Britain. Formerly known as the Institute of Professional Sport, it was established in 1991 by the Central Council of Physical Recreation.

The PPF is a not-for-profit body which provides a forum for the professional player associations to work together for the betterment of professional sport.  All income is from the member associations and commercial sponsorship, with the organization receiving no government funding. Its objectives are to promote, protect and develop the collective interests of professional sports players in the United Kingdom.  Many online gambling operators have joined with PPF in efforts to keep the integrity of sporting events intact.

Now online gambling operator Betway entered into a partnership with the PPF and Betway will help fund specially trained tutors and customised programmes that focus on the consequences of match fixing in professional sports. Betway chief executive officer Richard Akitt commented on the arrangement, “Sport in the UK has a phenomenal record of stamping out match fixing, but we are all aware of the dangers and temptations that young professional sportspeople face,” Akitt continued to add, “British sportsmen and women are some of the best educated in the world about the dangers of match fixing, and Betway is proud to support the PPF in their efforts to improve upon their already sterling record.”

Brendon Batson the PPF Chairperson also said, “Education for athletes is one of the best defences against the threat of match fixing and it’s great to see another leading betting company supporting this important work.” “Betway’s support will enable us to expand the reach of our education work to include more sports and reach more athletes. “This is a great example of how sport and the betting industry can work productively together to help protect British sport so that we can enhance and protect the UK’s reputation for sporting excellence, integrity and fair play.”
