The purchase of the News + Media Capital Group LLC by Las Vegas and Macau gmabling business billionaire, and one of America's largest political donors, owner of the Las Vegas Sands Corp. sounds like history repeating itself in the so called swing state of Nevada. It appears the new owners were trying to keep the purchase by such a politically motivated consern low key and realatively quiet. Once the news hit the streets reporter Carol Cling tweeted, “no matter who owns the Review-Journal, they don’t own us.”The Adelson family confirmed their ownership in a statement, “This week, with each of the Republican candidates for president and the national media descending on Las Vegas for the year’s final debate, we did not want an announcement to distract from the important role Nevada continues to play in the presidential election.”
