NEW GAMING BOSS IN ANTIGUA
"Pivotal time" for Antiguan jurisdiction
The closing months of last year saw the low-key appointment of a new Director of Gaming, with the Financial Services Regulatory Commission in Antigua and Barbuda, one of the Caribbean licensing jurisdictions.
Kaye McDonald said that her appointment comes at a very pivotal time for Antigua's gaming industry as the World Trade Organization (WTO) had found in favour of the island jurisdiction in its dispute with the United States over Internet gambling.
"We are confident that the Antigua gaming industry will continue to flourish and with this in mind we move on to other challenges in the industry," she said.
McDonald holds a B.A. degree in Political Science from Florida International University and is a former banker with an eight year tenure at one of Antigua and Barbuda's leading financial conglomerates. Her tenure included five years establishing and managing International Business Corporations and Trusts. She has strong relationships and business experience with the industry as a consequence. She is presently pursuing a Masters degree in International Relations.
"Although considered a developing country, the government of Antigua took bold initiatives to further develop the country by adding choice, value and a working relationship with all stakeholders to drive the gaming industry and is proud to say that they continue to ensure Antigua's operators have arduous policies and guidelines in place," she says
As the new Director of Gaming, McDonald's paramount concern is to strike a balance between effective regulation and an efficient business environment, creating synergies with all stake-holders. She is committed to ensuring that Antigua and Barbuda's is internationally regarded as a Tier 1 jurisdiction of choice, and its regulations and regulatory enforcement remain first rate.
