GREEK DEMONSTRATIONS AGAINST INTERNET GAMBLING LAW
Techies protest Internet gambling law
Internet, pinball machine and video game technicians demonstrated outside the Economy and Finance Ministry in central Athens this week over the government's refusal to overturn an anti-gambling law banning these types of entertainment.
Union representatives claimed that some 70,000 workers were without jobs because of Law 3037, passed in July 2002, which has been deemed unconstitutional in court. The law outlaws online gaming at Internet cafes and the use of machines that involve gambling, such as one-armed bandits.
