Ladbrokes poker brings big names together in Superstar Showdown
What is claimed to be the "greatest single table tournament in online poker history" is scheduled for Wednesday 17 August 2005 at 14:00 BST, hosted by Ladbrokespoker.com and entitled Superstar Showdown.
The all star line-up includes the 2005 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Champion, making his first major appearance since his win; the highest placed European at the 2005 WSOP; Internet poker's biggest ever money winner and Ladbrokes Poker Million's surprise celebrity finalist alongside four online qualifiers, for a winner takes all cash prize of US$80,000.
The runner-up will win a place on Ladbrokes Internet Poker Cruise 2006, worth $11,000.
Competeing for the big money will be:
- "Australian Joe" Joseph Hachem: 2005 WSOP Champion (who will donate any winnings to charity)
- Andrew Black: a top Irish player and the 2005 WSOP 5th placed player.
- Eric 'The Salmon' Sagstrom: The most successful online poker player ever The Swede is a winner of over $1 million at Ladbrokespoker.com in the last year alone.
- Helen Chamberlain: Sky TV presenter and Ladbrokes Poker Million Finalist and the first woman ever to make the last six in the tournament's history having won three consecutive TV table heats against top pro's.
The showdown comes in the same week as the final of Ladbrokes Poker Million 2005, arguably the richest televised poker tournament in Europe, with $1,935,000 of prize money. $855,000 has been added by the sponsors, Ladbrokes poker- the most money added by a sponsor in the history of poker.
