IT'S ALL HAPPENING IN MONTREAL NEXT WEEK
The biggest online gambling event in the world
Montreal will see an influx of online gambling people from 45 nations and all sectors next week as the industry gathers to debate and network at the Global Interactive Gaming Summit & Expo (GIGSE)
New technology, products, legal hurdles, payment solutions and business techniques will be showcased and discussed, and the bars and restaurants will do a roaring trade as the network machine goes into overdrive and tries to pack as much value as possible into a three day timespan.
It's the world's largest conference and trade show in the US$12 billion Internet and wireless gambling industry, which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary. Montreal's Palais des Congrs will be one busy place from June 13 to 15.
The current online poker craze has propelled an already thriving industry to new heights and this year's record-breaking attendance reflects this injection of interest and enthusiasm. The agenda provides a distinguished line-up of expert speakers as well as a long list of exhibitors from the local Montreal area and as far away as the Far East and the South Pacific.
The GIGSE 2005 program focuses on both looking back on the decade that was and looking forward to new opportunities and challenges. Thought-provoking presentations, debates, roundtables and interactive work sessions have all been scheduled to examine every challenge associated with running a successful online gambling business.
Influential speakers include CEOs, authors, lawyers and I-gaming experts. In addition to forecasting the future, the speakers will cover the hottest business issues including customer care, emerging online payment concepts, mobile technologies, advertising, branding and marketing, regulatory, investing and more.
More than 85 leading companies and online gambling friendly jurisdictions from around the world will be highlighting a wide range of new products, technologies and services on the Expo floor.
Key sponsors include Neteller, Playtech, Click2Pay, Orbis, RealTime Gaming, Gateway Financial Solutions, Mohawk Internet Technologies and Net Entertainment.
Winding up proceedings late afternoon Wednesday will be an amusing but fiercely contested race using the Segway two wheeler personal transporters driven by top i-gaming executives. Betting will likely be brisk on this charity event with proceeds going to responsible gambling organisations.
