Delaware USA Online Gambling Success Applauded

Delaware is a small state on the east coast of America and it has been offering legal online betting to residents of the state for a short time now and the results of their efforts are clearly paying off. Delaware was the first U.S. state to launch a full-scale online gambling operation following a week-long trial run with selected participants in the state. The three terrestrial casinos in the state, Delaware Park, Dover Downs and Harrington Raceway are partnered with 888 Holdings to offer the real money gambling operation.

Around 2,800 punters in Delaware have registered to play and, as of Dec. 1, 2013, those gamblers spent almost $3.8 million dollars playing online games.

State Lottery Director Vernon Kirk which runs the internet offerings commented that he is surprised by the attention the online offerings are getting, "It's been going very well," Kirk continued, "It seems encouraging, especially the ability to continually and steadily add new registrants, new depositors every day."

Liquidity for poker players is an essential element and Delaware was concerned its small population would be a problem. So far the no-limit hold'em and pot-limit Omaha cash games with up to $2/$4, and sit-n-gos ranging from $1 to $100 are available with multi table tournaments coming soon.

According to Kirk the online poker tables have been the most popular. "Most of the play is in poker, and blackjack is a pretty good second." The concept of compacts with other legally authorized US jurisdictions is very much alive while that may take some time to organize.

Other issues that the new industry is having concern the financial transactions of players. Credit card companies and banks haven’t been processing deposits from online gambling customers. "The credit card companies have been a little slower to come around," commented, Kirk.

Other technical issues regarding the location of the gambler have been mostly resolved said Kirk. There is more to come said the State Lottery Director with advertizing and offers internet wagering in Delaware is sure to succeed.
