The statistics are in and online gambling is definitely on a growth spurt according to a new survey. Even though the economic climate in the U.K. and other parts of the world is going threw a rough patch the UK online gambling monitor H2 Gambling Capital indicates that the online gambling industry is showing a 12.5 percent growth in gross wins despite all of the negative news about the economy.

Factoring in the FIFA World Cup wins if deducted from the results, the increase in gross wins would still have been 11.5 percent.
Total wins come in at just a little under £19 million.
The biggest contribution to the growth of the online gambling industry was made by the sports betting sector which contributed £7.78 billion which is an increase of 10.8 percent including the FIFA World Cup Tournament.
Not far behind sports wagering was online bingo which contributed £1.72 billion an increase of 28.4 percent since 2009 and then online casinos which contributed £4.02 million another increase of 13.3 percent.

One would think that poker was on a real increase but according to the report online poker generated £3.26 million a modest increase of 7.1 percent with the newly opened French and Italian internet poker markets contributing to the rise in revenues.
H2 Gambling Capital also revealed that there  had been a slight decrease in the number of online gambling web sites available to the player since 2009 with 2400 sites maintaining an active status.
Consolidation, competition and a weaker economic climate all contributed to the decline in the number of wagering web sites remaining online.
On the other hand a newly opened French online gambling market and Italian poker market along with newly regulated jurisdictions in other parts of Europe also made for increased growth in the industry. Belgium, Denmark, Greece and Spain all were contributing to the increase in popularity and usage of online gambling services.
It has been noted too that mobile online gambling platforms have made a significantly positive contribution to the growth of internet betting for sports and other casino games.
