Real Cheese Bingo and Slots on the Facebook Platform in the U.K.

The news is out, Facebook has become real money gambling friendly in the United Kingdom offering the “Bingo and Slots Friendzy” application to those eighteen years and older. This is a Facebook first and will reflect the new direction Facebook has chosen to boost revenues.

Gamesys an online gambling operator and developer is responsible for producing the slots and bingo offering and is well known for its popular brand. The Facebook platform has been gearing up with speculation since the firm went public a short time ago.

The Head of European Gaming Partnerships at Facebook, Julien Codorniou, spoke to and explained why Gamesys was the choice for the software provider, “We are working with a respected industry leader in the UK to ensure we can provide the people who use Facebook with choice and quality games, while taking time to consider our policies and introduce these products in a sensitive, safe and responsible way”. Codorniou continued to explain, “There has been an online debate on whether social gaming can cause gambling addiction and we have also consulted with the UK charity GamCare, the leading provider of information, advice, support and free counseling for the prevention and treatment of problem gambling, and will be supporting their campaigns going forward”.

This will hopefully put a few fears to rest as critics are claiming that offering online gambling for real money will cause problems among the youthful demographic of epidemic proportions. The move by Facebook seems to be good one when considering the similar needs of online bingo players and social gamers. Bingo relies on the social aspect to retain the majority of players and the Facebook platform has a very large following that look for the same elements. Facebook’s ability to target the interested with promotions and bonuses will give the games added content and potential. The new application may prove profitable for Facebook and maybe even players that win.
