Online Gambling Industry Continues Relief Efforts in Philippines

The online gambling industry has made billions of dollars over the time it has been in existence and when some of those successful firms give something back it deserves some recognition. The most recent disaster to hit the world is Super Typhoon Haiyan, known locally as Yolanda, that swept over the Philippines, devastating huge areas and leaving many homeless and starving.

One of the first to respond to the overwhelming need is the Calvin Ayre Foundation. On November 21st, the organization sent a team to assist Sitio San Vicente, Barangay Lo-ong, Concepcion in Iloilo City as part of the foundation’s adopt a village program.

Looking at the images of the regions affected by the Typhoon one can’t help to be awed by the destruction and utter despair these courageous people must feel. The Foundation’s team of volunteers have helped in getting food to those in need as well as medical help and dispensing medicine to injured and sick victims.

Foundation project lead Danica said, “We are very thankful the Calvin Ayre Foundation has had opportunity to extend our hands to the people of Sitio San Vicente who are in need.” Danica continued, “We are glad to see the people happy with goods that we gave them but most importantly the hope to start a new life after the typhoon. It was very heartwarming to see them smile after all that they have gone through.”

The Calvin Ayre Foundation thanks all of the generous people who put their donations to good work. The Foundation challenges the online gambling industry to give more to help the stricken Philippines and asks to please continue to donate to known charities for the Haiyan Typhoon Relief and the Calvin Ayre Foundation will continue to match all gaming industry donations until it gets up to $1,000,000. The good work is made even better when everyone pitches in to help even a little.
