MEDITERRANEAN GAMBLING BRANCH FOR BETFAIR
Betting exchange puts its Maltese license to use
Online gambling licencing authorities on the Mediterranean island of Malta have announced that the British P2P betting exchange group Betfair is to open a branch on the island this week.
Having obtained a licence to operate in Malta earlier this year, the move will allow Betfair to offer new player-to-player games to their customers.
Betfair is a pioneer of P2P betting and one of the world's top online betting companies, reporting annual revenues of GBP107.1 million in 2004, with over three million transactions a day, and over 12 000 bets a minute during big sports matches. In business since 2000, the group has won several awards for excellence, including Company of the Year in 2004 by the Confederation of British Industry.
