DETAIL ON GAMBLING ONLINE MAGAZINE TAKEOVER
But Players Publishing remains something of a mystery
Last week Online-Casinos.com reported on the takeover of the popular Gambling
Online Magazine by a previously unknown company called Players Publishing.
Since then efforts to establish the name of the CEO of the company, which has
been soliciting advertising from online gambling companies have met with a determined
silence for reasons that are not clear to us.
It is known that Eric Morris terminated his consultancy contract with the
new owners on October 4, although editor Michael Caselli remains in place.
The company has declined a request that it provide a press release because: "....statements
regarding the acquisition are required to be agreed by both Players Publishing
and the prior owners Future Publishing/Highbury House," according to a company
spokeswoman.
Players Publishing Limited is a private UK company that acquired Gambling Online
Magazine in August 2005 for an undisclosed price. The spokeswoman said that the
focus of the company is to continue to build on GOM’s excellent reputation
as a quality publication by providing first class, up to date editorial for readers.
The company also intends to continue to increase GOM’s subscriber base, delivering
value to advertisers.
New designers have been hired but this function was not purchased as part of the
acquisition. The new design company has been given the task of producing the magazine
in the same format as before, and no major changes are envisaged until a full
appraisal of all of the business is complete.
