MORE ONLINE GAMBLING MEDIA RAIDS IN ISRAEL
Regional MSN and Start offices on the target list for having advertised online
gambling sites
The Israeli business media are reporting mid-week raids by the Israeli Police
National Fraud Unit's computer crime squad on more online media companies.
The police involved in the raids are apparently questioning managers of websites
and companies that are alleged to have advertised online gambling sites.
Among those visited were MSN Israel and Start, owned by Microsoft,
together with Internet Gold Ltd. The police also raided the offices of
Nana-owned NetVision Ltd.
Two weeks ago, at the order of the Attorney General and State Prosecutor, the
Police Investigations and Intelligence Department began enforcing laws against
Israeli companies advertising online gambling sites.
Police investigators today continued gathering evidence of illegal advertising
and investigators are reported to have said that MSN Israel and Start have continued
to publish advertisements for gambling sites despite earlier police action against
Walla! Communications Ltd. and Sport Line.
No charges have been laid as far as is known.
