STICKY MOBILE POKER GAMES FROM WSOP?
Glu Mobile deal to produce mobile poker
2006 could see the launch of some interesting new WSOP-branded mobile poker
gaming following a new deal between U.S. mobile entertainment company
Glu Mobile and Harrahs. Harrahs is the owner of the World Series
of Poker brand.
The mobile poker deal is believed to include a range of WSOP-branded mobile
products that includes games, graphics, ringtones and other applications, all
scheduled for roll-out over the coming year.
"Harrah's and the World Series of Poker are two of the biggest brands in
the entertainment industry," says Greg Ballard, president and CEO
of Glu Mobile in announcing the agreement.
"The ever-increasing popularity of poker and the emerging consumer excitement
of multiplayer mobile games combine to make this a timely and powerful alliance."
This is not the first time that Harrah's has agreed to the use of its WSOP brand.
The alliance with Glu Mobile is just one of the many major licensing deals Harrah's
has signed in the past year. In 2005, Harrah's entered partnerships with America
Online and Activision, both of which are now using the WSOP brand name for online
poker gaming and console gaming, respectively.
