Ladbrokes has awarded a contract to DA Group, a Glasgow-based animation company, to breathe life into an innovative concept for presenting match reports on the betting group's high profile website.

Using its "alert.me" technology the deal will see "Big Frank", DA's virtual sports pundit, delivering web-based match reports on English football on Ladrokes' website to add interest and variety to the site.

The initial agreement is for a pilot scheme, with DA hoping that a successful presentation will bring a string of further contracts with Ladbrokes, including an expansion into a mobile-phone service or into other sports.

CEO Mike Antliff said the deal was relatively small but was significant in the company's strategy to get the technology in place and bring media and advertising companies on board.
