EMPIRE ONLINE VS PARTY GAMING - AND IT'S ALL FOR CHARITY
"Booting up" takes on a whole new meaning in a fun GIGSE grudge match!
The new CEO at Party Gaming, Mitch Garber hits the ground running in the industry at the Global Interactive Gaming Summit and Expo (GIGSE) in mid-May when he faces off with Empire Online boss man Noam Lanir in a race for charity.
The two top execs have agreed to clip on some Velcro ski boots and race each other over a 24 foot track, with play bets on the winner and contributions raised for charity. It's a fun event for a good cause, and it's likely to be very entertaining to boot!
Organisers River City Group tell us that this innovative form of racing involves "....a 24 foot course set-up to resemble a traffic highway. Two players at a time are on "Velcro" skiboots and race against each other across the highway. In teams or individuals, it's a BLAST!!!"
The Lanir - Garber *grudge* match is the main event, but there will be other amusing and interesting pairings in a series of clashes designed to raise cash for Gordon House Association, which does great things to help problem gamblers. You'll find more information about Gordon House and the charity event itself at http://www.gigse.com/2006/index.cfm/page/charity.
This is the third year running that Sue Schneider and her GIGSE organising team have included in this major industry conference an event to assist gambling problem bodies: "We need I-gaming companies to rise to the challenge and show doubters that
this industry is responsible and supportive of such efforts," says Sue.
Donations and pledges for this worthwhile cause are always welcome, and readers with a heart can arrange to make a contribution by emailing sue@rivercitygroup so that the team can track and post them on the website.
And you can use the same address if you have suggestions for other great grudge matches.
GIGSE is running from May 16 through 18 in Montreal, a great city to visit and a very efficient conference venue.
