ONLINE GAMBLING BAN: ALL QUIET ON THE U.S. FRONT
US politicians taking a break
The U.S. political activity aimed at prohibiting online gambling in the USA
has come to a halt after fiery opposition exchanges characterised an April 5 hearing
on the Goodlatte Bill before the House Committee on the Judiciary's sub-committee
on crime, terrorism and Homeland Security.
As far as is known, no further hearings on the Bill are scheduled in a busy Congress
session that will resume April 23 when Congress reassembles after the two week
Spring Break District Work Period.
Rep. James Leach's Bill H.R. 4411 has been referred to the House Committee
on the Judiciary where it will rest for a period of review not to exceed May 26,
2006 for consideration of the provisions, amendment, and Financial Services' committee
report.
