Italy's Online Poker Market Will Get Caesars WSOP

The online gambling market in Italy has been expanding at break neck speeds ever since the jurisdiction was liberated a short time ago. The poker market has done very well with Italians flocking to online gambling sites in droves. The new division of Harrah’s Entertainment now known as Caesars Interactive Entertainment Inc. will move on the poker market in Italy with a long term agreement with Microgame S.p.A. an Italian online gambling joint stock company.

Microgame operates both as an application service provider and developer of online platforms and integrated systems of service, and through the online community People's Poker Network, which is made up of more than 130 online partners in all Italy and counts more than 1.5 million gaming accounts. Microgame has around 30% of the Italian online poker market and 27.1% of online sports betting marketgiving the firm  9.4% of overall sports betting market.

Caesars Interactive Entertainment, Inc., will be utilizing its World Series of Poker brand to enter the Italian market. CEO of Caesars Interactive Entertainment, Mitch Garber commented on the announcement, “This agreement is a logical step in our European and global expansion strategy to partner with leading local companies as we look to expand the WSOP brand,” adding, . “Microgame is a clear leader in Italy and we look forward to working hard together to grow the poker market.”

Microgame CEO, Fabrizio D’Aloia, also said, “We are honored to have been selected as the exclusive Italian partner for the WSOP.” D’Aloia continued, “The People’s Poker Network, powered by Microgame, confirms its position of leadership in the Italian Poker Market and we are truly excited to offer our customers something unique.
