Teamtalk wants to build a soccer community

UK Betting subsidiary Teamtalk Media has announced a partnership agreement with mobile network operator O2 with the objective of building a football fan community via mobile phones.

Branded 'Football 365 Chat', the venture will be launched ahead of the World Cup, offering a 24-hour moderated chat service.

Peter Dubens, chairman of UK Betting, said: "I am delighted we have signed this agreement with 02. This is our first partnership agreement to provide mobile chat."

A German language version of the Teamtalk's Oddschecker site will also be launched, says Dubens: "The launch in Germany is Oddschecker's first step in its plans to expand overseas. During the remainder of 2006 it intends to become fully multilingual and to extend the range of sports and bookmakers covered to cater for a worldwide audience."

The service will initially be offered to current affiliates, both bookmakers and exchanges, who cater for the German audience, and will extend to further European partners ahead of the new football season.
