New England's GameLogic licenses popular combination of bingo and slots
Waltham, New England-based GameLogic Inc. has licensed online game Slingo as the latest addition to its PlayAway portfolio for land casinos.
PlayAway is an ingenious system to circumvent current federal claims that online gaming is illegal, and consists of players buying into and cashing out of the online game at licensed land casinos.
GameLogic, approved in Nevada, New Jersey and Mississippi, plans to release a Slingo-themed game in the July release of its Games Gallery. Players who buy PlayAway tickets at casinos may later play Slingo online to reveal winnings, company officials said.
The company plans new Games Gallery version releases as internally developed games and licensed properties are added.
Slingo, a combination of Bingo and Slots, was developed on a traditional 5-reel slot machine in 1995.
GameLogic was founded in 2002 by chairman and chief executive Steven Kane, founder of Gamesville, which was acquired by Lycos in 1999 for $232 million. In February, GameLogic received $18.6 million during a Series B round of funding.
