KIWI ONLINE SKILL GAMERS IN THE HUNT FOR A MILLION

US and Canadian finalists could take the biggest skill gaming prize around

Two players from the Kiwi Skill.com site have the opportunity to become $1 million richer next month after qualifying to participate in the World Wide Web games organised by FunTech for Saturday, September 9th in Los Angeles.

Players Kelli from Pennsylvania and Derek from British Columbia will both be flown to LA to play for the $1 million grand prize and champion title "World's Best Casual Gamer" at the first-ever World Wide Web Games. They will compete in the live tournament for the grand prize at the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood.

"I am very excited to have an opportunity to participate in such an exciting challenge. While I am a proficient player at home, my biggest fear, however, is that I will panic under public pressure" commented Kelli about playing in the live games.

75 finalists made the cut and are going to LA to compete in the World Wide Web Games, or W3 Games as they are more commonly called. All the players qualified by achieving the highest scores in their tournament bracket in any one of three of the most popular casual games - Bejeweled 2, Solitaire or Zuma. The games will be hosted by subsidiaries of FUN Technologies, and filmed for a TV special to air on GSN, the Network for Games, later this year.

"We're thrilled that two Kiwi Skill players made it into the finals in the World Wide Web games. We're rooting for Kelli and Derek all the way and hope one of them comes out the champion," commented Gary Jensen of Kiwi Skill. "It's amazing how fast this industry is growing…we now fly players from all around the world to compete for $1 million."

The skill gaming industry certainly is growing apace. The casual games industry is serious business with expectations of growing to $1.56 billion by 2008. An estimated 124 million players now frequent skill gaming sites according to a study by DFC Intelligence earlier this year.

The popularity of this form of gaming stems from ease of use and the ability to challenge other players to a friendly game of skill online, where a wide range of games is available. Players pit their skills against other players in real time tournaments, or head to head play for cash prizes.
