$500 000 PRIZEPOOL IN ONLINE POKER ROOM TOURNAMENT

This year's 888.com UK Poker Open to be broadcast daily on Challenge TV

Online poker players looking for a sponsored seat in the 2006 UK Poker Open championships can still qualify through 888.com satellite tournaments on the Internet every Sunday, the gambling group announced this week.

The championships commence in Maidstone, England on September 5 through to October 8, but players still have the opportunity to earn a place through Internet play for a modest $100 plus $5 buy-in. The site also offers free daily super satellites where players can win their way into the Sunday qualifier. The last qualifier for the U.K. Poker Open will be September 17.

"In the U.K. Open our online poker players will have the opportunity to play real live high-class poker, meet great poker pros, and take part in one of the most high-action tournaments in Europe," says Mike Herea, 888.com promotions department manager.

The tournament brings together online players as well as poker pros to compete for a share of the $500 000 prize pool. The event will also be broadcast every day at 11 p.m. on Challenge TV.
