JUNIPER REPORT SHOWS MAJOR GROWTH AHEAD FOR MOBILE GAMBLING
Asia Pacific and Europe will fuel increase in business to 2011
Another bullish assessment of the mobile gambling market has been published by the respected research house Juniper Research this week, predicting that revenues in the Asia-Pacific region could rise from $966 million in 2006 to $8.8 billion by 2011.
Juniper postulates that the region will become the largest geographic market for all aspects of mobile gambling involving casinos, lotteries and betting, trailed by Europe, with North America, South America and other regions lagging behind.
The study claims that Asia Pacific and Europe will contribute similar revenues in the next five years - accommodating a different business mix; and like Asia Pacific, Europe will see a substantial rise in value of bets placed (total revenues) from $950 million in 2006 to $7.9 billion by 2011.
In comparison, North America - assuming legislation permits - will rise from negligible revenue in 2006 to over $3.3 billion by 2011, and South America will grow from $34 million to $1.33 billion.
Players will exceed 1.3 billion in the Asia Pacific region alone by 2011, an increase that will cater for over 40 percent of global subscribers over the next five years.
Bruce Gibson, Research Director at Juniper Research said, "Globally revenues are set to rise. in part thanks to the inherent advantages of mobile communications in terms of convenience and pervasiveness."
