In the world of the internet a name is one of the most important things, it is an address and a whole lot more. A domain name is an identification label that defines a realm of administrative autonomy, authority, or control on the Internet. Domain names are also hostnames that identify web sites.

When doing business, any kind of business, on the internet the right domain name is a bit like real estate, some locations are better than others. Domain names such as vodka.com brought the owner a three million dollar sale and a recent purchase of slots.com was also bought for large money so there was a great deal of interest in the domain name gambling.com when it was announced, it was for sale.

Sedo the leading domain marketplace and monetization provider, and  sales representative handled the sale of gambling .com which was sold for $2.5 million dollars. Sedo has assembled the world's largest database of domain names for sale, with more than 18 million listings. Sedo, an acronym for “Search Engine for Domain Offers”, is headquartered in Cologne, Germany and offices in London, England and Cambridge, Mass.USA.

The announcement of the sale by UK based Media Corp  to an unnamed UK company was made by Sedo. CSO at Sedo, Liesbeth Mack-de-Boer, commented on the purchase,  “The high sale price paid for Gambling.com is a real confidence booster for the global domain industry and demonstrates the value companies are still prepared to place on their digital assets. Keyword domain names such as gambling.com offer significant advantages in terms of search engine optimization (SEO) strategy, with web sites often ranking well in natural search listings and receiving better click through than paid search campaigns.”
Owning a Domain name such as gambling.com does not mean instant success. A lot of hard work must still go into creating an address that players and customers return to time after time.
