RITZ CLUB ONLINE SNAPPED UP BY UK BETTING
A good opportunity to acquire this prime property presented itself and we took it, says gambling company
The industry shockwaves caused by the Barclay Brothers' announcement that they intended to close their Ritz Club London Online internet casino (see earlier Online-Casinos.com/InfoPowa reports) had barely faded this week when UK Betting revealed that it was the new owner of the prime online property.
Company spokesmen were reticent when it came to putting a number on the purchase, but described the deal as "a good opportunity that we seized." It is understood that the current management of Ritz Club London Online will remain on board for the foreseeable future.
The well established site has a good reputation and uses Cryptologic software, but that is due to change shortly. A company spokesman said: "We will continue to offer the same level of service and quality of games, and will be going ahead with our planned migration to the Playtech software platform.".
The owners rather abruptly closed Ritz Club London Online last week citing "...confusion and inconsistency in online gaming legislation worldwide" as their reasons for doing so.
Under UK Betting ownership, the site will no longer be associated with the swish land-based Ritz Club and its owners, the Barclay brothers.
