IDENTIFYING U.S. PLAYERS
UK identification verification firm upgrades its geographic locator capability
ID-verification firm GB Group has responded to the latest anti-online gaming US legislation by extending its international identity verification technology, ID3, to include the ability to monitor the geographic location of customers when they place bets.
The feature will enable online gaming firms to identify where a customer is located in a geographic sense before processing their application. The customer can then be redirected to the free-play section of the operator's site or be declined.
GB Group chief executive Richard Law said: "The service should be unobtrusive to the consumer, enabling businesses to sign up more 'valid' customers and at the same time it should take away the risk of fraud and illegality for the online gaming businesses."
