888 ANNOUNCES TOP MARKETING APPOINTMENT
New marketing chief has experience with Johnson and Johnson and Unilever
Gibraltar-based Internet gambling group 888 Holdings has appointed Jon Sumroy (39) to the position of Chief Marketing Officer, with effect from 15 December 2006. He will report to Gigi Levy, currently COO and CEO with effect from 31 December 2006.
Sumroy has been Managing Director of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Division, in Israel, since 2002, leading the Division through a
complete restructuring in 2005 and reporting results among the best of all Johnson & Johnson's Consumer subsidiaries worldwide.
A qualified pharmaceutical chemist, he worked in retail pharmacy before moving into marketing with Unilever in the UK in 1992. He went on to establish Unilever's first onshore Israeli operation in the position of Marketing Manager and has a track record of developing, launching and growing profitable businesses, categories and brands.
He was also a co-founder of Amicada, Inc., an internet-based interactive television service in the US between 1999 and 2002.
The outgoing CMO Miki Palmon, who has been with 888.com since 1997 was thanked for his contribution to the company. Marketing capability has been a key factor in the company's success and Miki has been core to this process.
