NEW, PRIVATE VIP GROUP SWINGS INTO ONLINE ACTION
Freed of the L&G public company constraints, VIP group gets in on all the action
Following the enactment of the US Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act and the subsequent sell-off of all US-facing online gambling operations by publicly listed Leisure and Gaming plc, a strong new private grouping has emerged to compete for global business.
In an announcement this week the VIP group confirmed that it will continue to offer its services to all online gamblers, saying that the impact of the UIGEA has been varied to date, and will not be entirely known for months to come.
The announcement updated interested parties on the activities of the now private group, which includes VIP Profits, VIP.com, Nine.com, BetGameDay.com, EnglishHarbour.com and VIP Poker.com. A special note is made regarding US players and VIP Poker.com. As a member of the Microgaming Poker Network, VIP.com Poker will no longer be able to offer access to US players from the following states:
Michigan, Illinois, Louisiana, Oregon, Wisconsin, Washington, Indiana, Nevada, New York, New Jersey and South Dakota
"Please note that this only applies to the Poker product," the announcement emphasises. "Players from these states will still be able to make use of all other products." VIP group's non-poker operations are powered by Vegas Technology software.
