IOVATION CO-FOUNDER RECOGNISED
Device reputation innovator brings practical experience to fighting fraud
Iovation, the device reputation specialist for online fraud management and authentication, has announced that Jon Karl, co-founder and senior vice president of business development, was appointed as a Merchant Risk Council Board Advisor this week.
In this position, Karl will work with online merchants to address fraud and risk issues impacting the growth of the online channel.
"The MRC is a well-established organisation that is fully committed to providing merchants with practical, best practice approaches that mitigate the risk inherent in online transactions," Karl said. "In this role, I plan to share our insight as a provider of solutions that will help win the war."
Iovation pioneered the use of PC reputation technology for online fraud management and multi-factor authentication, linking user accounts with PCs and using the reputation of those PCs to guard against online fraud.
The Merchant Risk Council consists of more than 7 800 merchants, vendors, financial institutions and law enforcement agencies.
Founding members of the MRC include Apple, Hewlett Packard and Expedia. MRC subscribers share the common goal of protecting and encouraging the thriving online commerce industry by establishing best practices for cyber-fraud prevention. In addition, the MRC works with federal and local law enforcement agencies such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Secret Service, the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Postal Inspectors to help catch and prosecute cyber criminals.
"Jon brings a fresh new perspective to our Board," said Tom Donlea, executive director for the Merchant Risk Council. "The MRC community welcomes his practical experience and commitment to fighting online fraud."
