The Mahjong craze is about to go up a gear in Europe with news of the first ever online Open European Mahjong Championship, which Mahjong Time.com is to sponsor over September 8-9 at a venue to be advised, following an agreement with the European Mahjong Association.

This move follows Mahjong Time's successful sponsorship of the land-based version - the Second Open European Mahjong Championship - held in Copenhagen in June this year. 136 players and 34 teams from across the world, including the Netherlands, Germany, France, Japan, China, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Austria, Denmark, Hungary, Portugal, Belgium, Finland, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the United States took part in the event.
