FRENCH FIRM TO LAUNCH UK ONLINE SPORTSBETTING
Partouche plans launch in Q2 of 2008
According to reports in Casinowire, the French land and interactive gambling group Partouche has the UK market in its sights as it prepares to launch a new online sportsbetting site in time for the start of the Euro 2008 Football Championships in the second quarter of 2008.
The betting services offered to visitors to the currently unnamed website will not be available to French punters due to the protectionist nature of existing French national gambling policy, although it is hoped that this situation may change following negotiations with the European Commission (see recent Online-Casinos.com/InfoPowa reports)
The celebrity "face" of Partouche, ex-Manchester United football star Eric Cantona is to be featured by the website, which will carry links to another new Partouche initiative - online poker using the Red Planet platform. Former 888.com exec and now CEO at Red Planet Gaming, Vahe Baloulian, expects the launch of the online poker platform to take place later this year.
