NETELLER CONFIRMS EMAIL ON IP TRACKING (Correction)

Confusion at customer service responsible

This is a correction to yesterday's Online-Casinos.com/InfoPowa report titled "BEWARE NETELLER PHISHING SCAM."

In that report an email from communications@neteller.com advising that the e-processor intended re-introducing IP tracking from 31 March was suspected of being a phishing scam and checked with the Neteller client support system, which confirmed it was not a Neteller communication and should be reported to phishing@neteller.com and ignored.

Subsequently, the security division of Neteller, which handles phishing complaints, advised that the email was genuine and that the company would be reviewing its "communication policy to ensure all NETELLER staff are informed in advance when communications are sent to NETELLER members to avoid confusion in future."
The email in question advises account holders that IP tracking functionality on their accounts "will be re-instated. This is a security measure to ensure the location of your login matches the country of residence registered with your NETELLER account."  It goes on to urge account holders contemplating an overseas trip away from their home country registered with Neteller click on a link, to obtain permission to operate their accounts whilst away from home.

If this is not done, any foreign transactions will be voided, the email claims.
