NEW DIRECTOR OF TV FOR NETPLAY
Interactive television gambling group appoints ex Beeb manager
The interactive television betting group NetPlayTV has announced the appointment of former BBC light entertainment manager Michael Leggo as its director of television, with responsibility for all television gaming and products.
A company statement says that Leggo will be expected to "...to bring mainstream editorial and production expertise to NetPlay TV's rapidly expanding television operations and to build further relationships with broadcasters."
Leggo headed up the Beeb's light entertainment editorial content from 1994 to 1999, including all National Lottery programming.
Commenting on his new appointment, Leggo said: "NetPlay TV's dedication to providing quality entertainment has already proved massively successful. With ever more channels and platforms to cater for, this is a particularly exciting time to be joining the company."
NetPlay CEO Martin Higginson said his company was in the process of setting up its own dedicated gaming channel. "It is the right thing to do for us."
Higginson said the new channel would launch after testing in September and come under the Supercasino brand the company was currently building. He added: "We want to build up our own brands and we are not interested in doing white label deals."
