THE VOID WITHDRAWS ONLINE POKER COMPLAINT
$1.2 million winnings claim abandoned in Isle of Man court
The Isle of Man-based online poker company Poker Stars.com will not have to face one of its players in court over a disallowed winnings claim worth $1.2 million after the plaintiff withdrew her case this week.
The case arose from poker action in the 2007 World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) organised by Poker Stars and won by account holder TheVOid - an account owned by Natalie Teltscher, the sister of a poker professional. Main event winnings of over $1.2 million were disallowed when it appeared that tournament rules had been breached through someone other than Teltscher herself playing on the account.
Poker Stars.com disqualified her win and ruled that the remaining finalists move up one place on the winnings table, and Teltscher launched litigation in an Isle of Man court challenging the decision (see previous Online-Casinos.com/InfoPowa report).
However, when presented with the evidence Poker Stars had adduced in its investigation into the scandal, she admitted she had not been the player on the account, and has now withdrawn the complaint.
