SKILL GAME REVENUES UP

The UK's GameAccount not impacted by recession

The British skill games provider and network operator GameAccount reports that it has so far proved recession-proof, and has experienced what it calls a "dramatic increase" in punter action and bets placed.

Dermot Smurfit, GameAccount's chief operating officer, revealed this week that the firm has received GBP120 million in wagers thus far in 2008, a significant rise against the GBP110.5 million it reported during the same period last year.

"People are staying at home, not just because it's getting colder, but to save money, too" said Smurfit. "As markets all over the world are melting, we're pleased that more and more people are turning to the Internet and skill gaming for their entertainment."
