No Fly Zone in U.S. Online Gambling

Online gambling is on the hot seat again in the U.S.A. While wagering on just about everything seems like the norm, it is odd when certain issues are considered 'no fly zones.' That's the case in the world of U.S. political futures gambling.

Critics have pointed out that online gambling operators were responsible to a certain degree for their own demise in the U.S A. Problems arose when certain industry speakers would be less than kind in comments made about the previous U.S. Government.

Now they are singing a new tune and are playing a different game, trying their very best not to rock the boat. Many online gambling web sites are taking a 'wait and see' approach as they patiently wait for the new administration in the States to make changes to the online gambling ban imposed there. Some operators feel its not right to take bets on the political future of Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner. To be sure this type of wagering would only provoke animosity towards the industry.

It is understood by most operators there is a need to work with Congressman Barney Frank and Mr. Geithner to help get the prohibition in the U.S.A. repealed. Online wagering is an untaxed gold mine for the U.S. treasury that could help an economy that is seriously in decline. Mr. Frank said "I think if we do this right we should make online gaming legal and subject it to a reasonable taxation like anything else," "This does not conflict to our effort to stimulate the economy. This isn't bad for the economy."

It is estimated that more than $12 billion will be wagered on the 64 games of the NCAA tournament, of which only 1 percent of that total is going to be bet offline in places such as Las Vegas. The online gaming industry has stated it wants to work closely with the U.S. Treasury Department and find methods to make possible new legislation work for the U.S. Government.
