Online Gambling Statistics Reveals Global Growth

It comes as no surprise when statistics are released indicating that people around the globe are still punting on just about everything. Global Betting and Gaming Consultants has been on the job taking in information regarding how much people spend and wager at all the gambling venues. It’s research has revealed a jump in gambling revenue world wide by 5.6% reaching an astounding $419 billion, as compared to the previous year.

The Director of Global Betting and Gaming Consultants, Lorien Pilling details, “There are numerous new casinos under development in Asia that are due to open in the next few years, whilst Singapore’s integrated resorts are still only in their second full year of operations.”
Betting on the various lotteries accounted for 28.4% of gambling revenues, and casinos were not far behind with a 27.7% share. With Asian gambling numbers on a steep climb a prediction was suggested that casino betting would take over the top gambling venue next year.

On the internet wagering front, the new age format has experienced strength in growth for its market position, up by just 0.4% to 8.4% in 2011.The possible regulation of online gambling in the massive US market could change this percentage significantly. As smartphones and e tablets become more popular and broadband penetrates more parts of the globe these factors will also see dramatic changes.
Looking ahead to the future, GBGC is predicting global gambling revenue to top $500bn by 2014, depending on how the world’s economy fairs. Commenting on the growth prospects for the rest of the world.
Pilling commented, “A strong economic recovery in the U.S. would help gaming revenues that have been hit hard in recent years. In Europe, the gambling industry needs the euro zone crisis to be resolved because the uncertainty is really hurting the gambling sector in the likes of Greece and Spain.”
