Random Events Can Upset Online Gambling Odds

Gambling on sport can be somewhat predictable as there are many professionals analysing the dickens out of all the facts available. Then there is the best part, the part of sport that makes it all so interesting, the random possibilities that make outcomes so different. Good examples of those random possibilities are events such as the scratching of the favourite contender for the Triple Crown at Belmont this year. That amazing race resulted in an exciting ending as the colts were neck and neck at the finish making for some really frantic moments for the 85 thousand plus who were actually at the track.

Then there was another really outstanding upset in the boxing ring when judges called the fight between Timothy Bradley and Manny Pacquiao a draw. Pacquiao seemed to charge in the ring but two judges decided the contrary, giving Bradley a split decision putting an end to the Filipino fighter's seven-year undefeated record. The bookies are holding their collective breath as the match made for a lot of paper work for them. The crowd at the match booed loudly and the promoter Bob Arum looked outraged, and Pacquiao just seemed confused when the decision was announced. Arum was quoted as saying, "Can you believe that? Unbelievable," Arum said. "I went over to Bradley before the decision and he said, `I tried hard but I couldn't beat the guy."'

This is a really good example of what can go amiss even when you think when your betting its going just as you thought it would. Bradley came on strong in the later rounds, winning five of the last six rounds on two scorecards and four on the third. He won 115-113 on two scorecards, while losing on the third by the same margin. Manny Pacquiao was supposed to be the clear winner but the judges have changed all that. The rematch is on its way but don’t get too excited, it could go either way.
