The poker world is full of great players but some stand out as extraordinary. The competition is as strong as it gets at the big tournaments such as the World Series of Poker and the recent win by poker pro Phil Hellmuth at the WSOP Europe Main Event is proof this player has what it takes. This is the thirteen WSOP bracelet won by Hellmuth which included a €1,022,376 prize. This win was a long time coming for Hellmuth who was on top of the stand a number of years ago. Several years went by between bracelets 11 and 12, Hellmuth then picked up lucky 13 just three months after his other 2012 gold bracelet victory.

Known as the poker brat the game was a nail biter as he sustained his momentum through 420 players while on the way to victory. On the fifth day, it was down to the final table where Hellmith entered as the chip leader with 3,434,000 in chips, followed in close proximity by Sergii Baranov with 3,339,000 in chips. Baranov and Hellmuth played tag team to eliminate the rest of the players in short order ending up with Stephane Albertini, Baranov and Hellmuth, facing off after Joseph Cheong’s final demise.

The three were battling it out for almost two hours when Hellmuth scored an improbable back-door to force Albertini out. This gave Hellmuth a serious chip lead over Baranov and feeling the win was in the works, Hellmuth turned up the heat on Baranov, raising a majority of Baranov’s bets and enticing him to call. That call happened when Baranov moved all-in on an As4c hand only to be called by Hellmuth and his Ah10d hand. With that Hellmuth secured his 13th WSOP bracelet and the lead in the WSOP Player of the Year race. Now the focus is on Greg Merson, who has to win the WSOP Main Event later this month to realize the Player of the Year award.
