Online Gambling Firm bet365 Expanding in U.K.

The online gambling industry employs thousands of people around the world and contributes an enormous amount of money to the economies of several countries. The jobs associated with internet gambling are usually high paying technology positions that require education and experience. In places such as Stoke-on-Trent which lies in the west midlands area of England the betting industry firm has a solid foundation.

A recent announcement that bet365 a private online gambling company since 2000 will add six hundred new positions to its ranks in the next ten years has been met with instant kudos. The internet wagering enterprise already employs over 2100 people and was one of the only major online gambling companies to have made the decision to keep their sportsbook based in the UK. Financial results published for the year to March 2012 shows the firm paid £20.3 million in corporation tax, while betting duty and VAT took the total tax bill to £130 million.

The firm plans to expand its corporate footprint in the city of 249,000 people. The new facilities at 13,000 square meters is nearly double the size of the company's current offices.

Denise Coates, bet365’s joint chief executive commented, "We are proud to be the largest private sector employer in Stoke-on-Trent so we like to think this is good news for us and good news for the city. Coates added, “ At the moment we contribute over £80 million annually into the economy in terms of staff wages, so it's a significant amount being invested in the area in terms of those wages. Other businesses will also benefit.”

Coates continued to explain, "We have reached the stage where we have outgrown our existing offices and it's important for us to proceed with this project which will enable us to continue to base ourselves in the area, taking account of both our existing workforce and planned future growth."
