Online Gambling Heats Up as UEFA Final Nears

There will be a new dimension to the UEFA Champions League final in Lisbon as Real Madrid CF takes on Club Atlético de Madrid. The interest is centered around the fact that all of the big name contenders were put out of the competition leaving the championship to rivals from across town in Lisbon.

The Union of European Football Associations represents the national football associations of Europe. The UEFA Champions League is one of the most prestigious tournaments in the world and the most prestigious club competition in European football. The final of the 2012–13 tournament was the most watched UEFA Champions League final to date, as well as the most watched annual sporting event worldwide in 2013, drawing 360 million television viewers.

The underdog club Atlético de Madrid is breaking through a wall that hasn’t been done in forty years. No one would have guessed these young and passionate players could pull off what has come to pass, shot at the Champions League trophy and only two wins away from winning its first La Liga title in 40 years. As many sceptics will bet and there are bets flying fast and furious on the outcome of this match if the Atlético de Madrid take the title there is going to be a massive lot of writing in the history books.

Real Madrid is a formidable club for Atlético to outplay. Real is the world's richest football club in terms of revenue, with an annual turnover of €513 million, and the most valuable sports team, worth €2.4 billion (US$3.3 billion).  The club established itself as a major force in both Spanish and European football during the 1950s. Domestically, Real Madrid has won a record 32 La Liga titles, 19 Copas del Rey, 9 Supercopas de España, 1 Copa Eva Duarte and 1 Copa de la Liga. Internationally it has won a record nine European Cup/UEFA Champions League titles and a joint record three Intercontinental Cups, as well as two UEFA Cups, and one UEFA Super Cup.
