Aces High Casino (Now Jackpot City Casino):

Review update: Aces High Casino is currently redirecting to it's sister site Jackpot City Casino

Aces High is a Microgaming-powered casino and is part of the massive Belle Rock Gaming group. This group manages seven casino properties in total, and since they hold such as wealth of experience, I was anticipating good things when I decided it was time for another review.

The Aces High Casino website is nicely set out with a player able to navigate to the section they want easily - banking, promotions, support etc. all have their own areas on the site. I also noted the 'seal of approval' from the independent eCogra organization on the home page, meaning the games play fair and the casino acts in an honest manner.

The home page boasts that over 130 games are playable at the casino and as such I clicked to begin my download. Incidentally, for those wanting an instant gambling fix, or where downloading is not an option, the Flash version of the Aces High casino allows access to just over 50 games.

I have to say that the download experience at Aces High was not like anything I had experienced elsewhere. The casino uses a downloader tool whereby the required files are downloaded in the background. However, while this happens a player is prompted to complete the registration process. This is very unusual as commonly a player only signs up when running the casino for the first time. However, I guess it makes sense to be completing these forms as opposed to starting at a blank screen waiting for the casino to download. A nice touch with Aces High is that upon registering both a real and guest account are created, so players can gamble real money or can play for fun whenever they wish.

With the casino up and running and having already registered my details with the casino, I logged on and headed straight for the cashier. The usual wide range of deposit options are available, although I was slightly surprised to see the minimum purchase amount for most options was $50. This is high compared to some casinos and could be off-putting to the very small stakes player. For me, however, I was happy to deposit $100 which I did via my Credit Card.

All new players are entitled to claim a $50 welcome bonus, although since this (plus the $50 required deposit) needs to be wagered 20 times on slots, I decided to only claim this bonus if I reached zero on my account - I like bonuses like this that don't have to be claimed straight away at the time of deposit.

With $100 in my account I had a look at the different games available. As stated earlier, a wide number of games are available, but thankfully games are categorized by type (slot, table etc.) making it easy for a player to find the game they want.

Usually I work through the games available at a casino in a very methodical approach when I review - firstly Table games, then Video Pokers etc. However, this time I decided to just play whatever I felt like and since I felt like winning a progressive jackpot, I clicked on the Cash Splash icon!

Cash Splash is just one of the many slots available at Aces High and was actually one of the first online progressive machines ever created. As such, it's been around for a good few years, but is still a favorite with me! Microgaming adds new slots every few weeks, so it's very hard to get bored at a casino such as this one. The progressive at the time of playing stood at just over $20,000 and although I didn't win it, my very first spin was a $30 winner so I was off to a good start.

At this point I must also mention that the graphics and sound on the Cash Splash game were really great. It's clear that Microgaming has good designers working on their games and any visitor to Aces High Casino will soon appreciate the quality of the games available. It's also great that many of the games are user-configurable. Want a slot to spin faster? Just click the options and play it how you want to!

With my bank balance instantly swelled I decided to move from an old-timer slot to a brand new one - Pollen Nation. This 25-line game has gone down very well in the gambling community and as such I was itching to try it out. Again the same great graphics and sounds were on show but there was one other reason why I liked this game - it pays well! I hit the bonus round pretty early on won a healthy 8500 coins ($170). Through some other good wins I was soon up to $270!

I had not had this much luck for a long time and as such was soon not worried about risking my bankroll - after all a $170 profit gives a player a lot of cushion to play with! I moved on to some of the other slots available such as Jackpot Express and Cool Buck, and although I didn't win anything huge on these, I could see that a slot player could have a lot of fun at Aces High.

In my journey around the Aces High casino I also checked out some of the Video Poker games available. Again, a huge number of games are available, from old-timers such as Jacks or Better to brand new slots such as the Bonus Poker games. Multi-hand varieties are also being added all the time and at Aces High it's now possible to play up to 100 hands at once with Aces and Faces! Of course, quality graphics and smooth game play come as standard on all the Video Poker games Aces High has to offer.

With my bank balance still around the $270 mark - I next wondered over to the 'Table' section of the casino. This section of the casino included a number of my favorites including lesser-known games such as Three Card Poker. Of course, all the casino favorites such as Blackjack and Roulette are here too.

I actually did OK on a number of the games - winning $30 at Three Card Poker and $44 on my very first roulette spin. I also discovered that many of the table games playable at Aces High have dealer voiceovers which go further in enhancing the overall enjoyment of the casino.

At this point my balance was just under $270, and I decided to finish up on the Blackjack table. A number of varieties of blackjack are available including a high-roller table allowing bets of up to $1000. I sat down at the Euro Blackjack table and decided to get my balance up to $275 and to quit. This proved deadly and for the sake of winning a few more dollars I ended up at zero. Although I did get a healthy $110 winner I stupidly used the Martingale system (when you double each losing bet) to try and reach my target. A bad run meant I was soon wiped out. This was a distinctly annoying end to an otherwise excellent session, but I guess that is what happens when you get greedy.

At this point, I did claim my $50 bonus but couldn't do anything with that. And so, I left it. However, a few hours later I decided to give it one more go and thankfully turned a $300 deposit into $425. As such, although I didn't cash out as much as I could have earlier, I still came away with an overall profit of $25 from this casino (as well as the $400 deposited).

Unfortunately this is where things went downhill. As stated, I earlier claimed a bonus but as I hit zero before making further deposits I was under no obligation to wager more than I wanted. However, despite me advising the casino that I had zeroed out and had won from a subsequent deposit, the casino cancelled my withdrawal. I then spoke to support on two more occasions and still the casino did not credit my winnings. At the time of writing it has been 5 days since cashing in and I still haven't received my winnings. This is a trusted casino group and I know I will be paid. However, hassles like this are definitely not good.

Incidentally, the support options available to players are good (chat, telephone and email) and the customer support reps are very approachable. It just seems that there is a lack of internal communication at this casino. Of course, I could just recommend that people never take bonuses to avoid any risk of confusion, but that really isn't fair to the player.

As such, while I think Aces High Casino is good, it definitely could improve in areas. I had a great run of luck. Similarly, quality is apparent all the way through this casino. The casino has a reasonable support function and in theory banking should also be good. Yet it appears that a lack of internal communication can cause real problems for the player. As such, give this casino a try by all means and if it works out for you - great. Unfortunately, I don't think this is one I'll be adding to my favorite casino list.
