When I played at Goldgate Casino, I took advantage of their sign up bonus, which at the time was a 25% Match Bonus Compared to many competitors, this isn't a great bonus, seeing as other Playtech Casinos offer as much as a 200% Bonus, and in some cases even more than that. The wagering requirements for Goldgate Casino's Sign Up Bonus states that you need to play the Deposit plus the Bonus 50 times before cashing out, and even after meeting those requirements, you have to deduct the amount of the bonus you received from any amount that you cash out. This applies no matter when your first cash out is, in fact, it could be 2 or 3 deposits after your initial claiming of the Sign up Bonus. Also, Craps, Roulette, Baccarat and Sic Bo do not count towards your wagering requirement. I played in the casino for about 3 and a half hours and still, when my deposit ran out, had $2,785.38 left on my play through requirement!
The best game that I played at Goldgate Casino would have to be Blackjack. The table minimum was $0.10 and it had a max of $300. I was playing $1 to $3 per hand and hit Blackjack several times and for the first time, after only a couple of hands. I found that the graphics for this game were very clear and crisp, and the sound effects and dealer voice was very clear, however, I did notice that there was a little bit of lag when it came to the dealing of the cards. There seemed to be at least a 5 to 7 second delay from the time I clicked the table to the time the software reacted. Other than the lag, though, the game was very enjoyable and paid out very well for me.
Next, I decided to check out one of their Progressive Jackpot Slots. I settled on Safe Cracker, which offers a fixed coin size of $0.25 and a 3 coin per spin max bet. I made sure to make the max bet possible, which is $0.75 per spin, so as to get the full benefits of the game (namely eligibility for the Progressive Jackpot). I played this game for about twenty minutes and was quite discouraged with the fact that during that time, it only hit once, and only for $2.25. Granted, this does not mean that the game never pays well, but, for me, it wasn't paying well at all. On a better note, the graphics and sound effects were very well put together, and this game did not lag at all, the responses were quick and the reels never got hung up on a spin.
Once I left Safe Cracker, I decided to try out one of the Progressive Video Poker games. I went into Megajacks, which offers a fixed bet of $0.25 and a max bet of $1.25 per hand. Playing the max bet per hand, I had winning hits about every 3rd hand or so, winning a max of $11.25 off of one hand. The game offers an Auto-hold feature, which automatically holds any winning cards for you. Megajacks also offers a gamble feature that allows you to gamble all or half of your win on guessing the right color of the next card. Overall, this was a very enjoyable game, the only problem I found was that it was extremely slow to load each hand, taking as long as 30 seconds to deal a hand.
Next, I headed to Deuces Wild Video Poker. This game has coin sizes that vary from $0.05 to $5.00, I settled on playing the $0.10 coin size which has a $0.50 per hand max bet. This game also hit pretty often, at least every 3 or 4 hands. In this particular visit, I won $2.00 on the $0.10 coin size, so that is a very good ratio. Similar to most of the other games that I played at this casino, however, the hands were a bit slow to load, not nearly as slow as Megajacks - but still, a bit laggy. Overall, the game itself was fun, I hit several Deuces, which is always a nice bonus, and as I mentioned, it did hit often.
In general, Goldgate Casino wasn't great, but it was fair. The games lagged a bit too much, but with only a couple exceptions, they seem to pay out pretty well. One major thing that this casino needs to work on is their customer service, namely the Live Chat feature. I tried for a good 10 minutes and at least 3 re-loads, to get the Live Chat feature to work from their website to no avail. Then I decided to try the Live Chat from inside the Casino. This feature worked, however, it was 5 minutes (at least) before I even got a response, and then, though the representative was very polite and eventually helpful, it took several minutes (the least being 3, the most being 8) between responses. I asked her a simple question that should have taken less than 5 minutes to take care of, as I'm sure it is a common question (I asked how to tell how much was left on my wagering requirements). The whole conversation took between 15 and 20 minutes, which, even accounting for high levels of traffic, should have taken no more than maybe 10 minutes, and even that is really pushing it. This Live Chat was definitely not instant.
In spite of the fact that most of the games paid out often, I really did not have a great experience with this casino. The lag in the games was frustrating, and frankly made the experience less fun than it would have been had the games run smoothly. But, I think that the experience with the 20 minute session with Customer Service was the last straw. There really is no reason that such a simple question should have taken that much time to get answered. After visiting message boards and speaking with other players from this casino, it seems that this is the general opinion of the casino. The lag time is a big issue with several players and most of the players I spoke with had similar issues with the slow customer service, mostly, however, with the Live Chat. From the opinions of the players at message boards, the E-mail system wasn't nearly as slow nor frustrating, and, like the Live Chat operators, the E-mail Staff is very polite and helpful.
In conclusion, I don't believe that I would recommend this casino to a friend. There are too many things that cause frustration with Goldgate Casino. This includes the bonus terms, which you should read very thoroughly before depositing any money as a new player so that you fully understand all of the terms. Especially the fact that no matter when you cash out (for the first time only), the amount of your original sign up bonus will be deducted from any amount withdrawn.
