Omni casino is not new to us at online-casinos.com – indeed we reviewed this casino a good number of years ago. In fact with 11 years of online experience Omni is one of the oldest casinos around. However, since our last review things have changed and Omni has migrated from the old Cryptologic / Wagerlogic platform to become a Playtech-powered casino. Given that we'd not been back to Omni since this December '08 changeover we thought we'd fire up the casino and give this latest offering whirl.
Unfortunately Omni Casino is not available to US players but for most other players around the world Omni can be played via both a download and no-download Flash interface. The latter of these is great for those on slow connections or who simply want a quick bet without going through the usual process of download and installing software. However, as always I recommend that players try the download version if they can – after all this offers the best gambling experience for the player and also means access too all 100+ games is available.
Download, installation and sign-up was a doddle and within a few minutes the installer had done its business and I had filled in the account creation form. As with any respectable casino, Omni allows play in a variety of currencies including Euro, UK Pound and US Dollar. I opted to create a US $ denominated account and so, with my new account ready for action I headed to the cashier.
Omni allows a variety of deposit options to be used including credit card, bank transfer and a number of popular e-wallets. I used NeTeller to purchase $50 of chips and thanks to a 100% sign-up bonus, a further $50 was added to my account. Omni offer a number of sign-up and ongoing match bonuses and on the first two deposits alone a player can get up to $300 free. Of course, players don't have to accept bonuses but since Omni is set to automatically award these it can be a slight hassle to contact support asking them to remove these bonuses once they have been added.
Although usually not a massive Video Poker fan I can see the attraction of these games and on this occasion decided to start my play with these mechanical beasts. Omni's selection of Video Poker games is reasonably decent with popular games such as Jacks or Better, Joker Poker and Deuces Wild available to play. However, one thing I did notice is that multihand games are less plentiful – in fact it's pretty much just Jacks or Better / Aces and Faces games that are available to play across multiple hands. This might be a slight disappointment to some VP fans.
The games that are available are decent enough – a betting range of $0.05 per coin all the way up to $5 means most gamblers should be happy and with each game offering a 'full' pay table there's certainly the opportunity to win big. My only gripe is that ironically the games are almost 'too' realistic to land-based games. By this I means that the graphics etc. replicate very closely those games found at casinos around the world. However, I actually think many online games surpass their land based equivalents in terms of quality so it seems odd Omni should decide to settle on this benchmark! Having said that, the graphics are certainly of a good enough quality to hold any player's attention and with the whole casino being user-configurable in terms of game speed, sound effects and even whether certain game aspects are used (e.g. double-up screens in video poker) a player should certainly find play enjoyable.
I did OK on the Video Poker games but didn't get any wild wins. As such, I next decided to move on to the slot games. I've always liked the slots created by Playtech and Omni offers a good selection of both 'mechanical-style' and video slots. A good number of games offer progressive jackpots too meaning those winners who like to gamble on the big win should feel right at home.
Gold Rally has always been a fun game for me largely because of the massive wins it can pay out – I've won over $1000 on a spin with this game in the past and at the time of writing the jackpot stood at over $821,000. The downside for this game is that is costs a massive $16 a spin. I guess that's how they can offer such great prizes! Thankfully my luck on this game was still with me and I won a few decent amounts including a nice $120 for 2 lots of gold bags.
I also enjoyed playing some of the more unusual slot games such as Ugga Bugga. This game seems an initial bet being followed by three reels spinning just as with any normal game. However, a player then gets the chance to hold any of the symbols across 10 other pay lines. Each pay line then re-spins and of course, should a good set of symbols spin initially the payoffs can be huge. Unfortunately I didn't do great on this game but it was for nonetheless. I have to say, the quality of slot at Omni Casino is great and the vibrant graphics and cool sound effects should keep any slot fan happy.
Unfortunately by the time I'd checked out this slot and some of the other mechanical-style games my bankroll was starting to look a bit pitiful so I headed over to the table games section to see if I could pull a trick or two to leave me with a nice win. Omni has all the favourites including multi-hand Blackjack, Stud Poker, Red Dog, War and others. They also host a few unique games such as Viking Poker and as such Omni is likely to be popular with table game players.
The betting ranges are also excellent at the tables – Blackjack, for example, allows bets of between $1 and $300 which over the 5 play spots available means bets of $1500 per round can be achieved. This is serious money and should satisfy the requirements of most players. And yet games like roulette also accept bets of just $0.10 and so lower rolling player should be similarly satisfied.
I have to say I was generally impressed with the table games and felt that the graphics and sound effects worked well together to create a great playing environment. The casino even offers live games where real dealers offer players the chance to bet against a real deck of cards. This is great for those that want to get as close to possible to a real casino experience, although as with any normal casino these games have extra running costs attached to them and so minimum betting values are higher than across the rest of the casino (usually $5 or $10)
The only other part of the casino to talk about is the 'arcade games' section. This selection of games offers a variety of fun betting opportunities including a fun high / low card game as well as a dice betting game. These games probably won't hold appeal for too long but certainly break up play from the standard casino affair.
Unfortunately by the time I'd tried out the majority of the games available my balance was at zero and so I had nothing to withdraw. However, Omni processes withdrawals within a few days of cashing out and with a number of payout options available a player should be able to get their hands on their money without too much issue.
Support is similarly well covered with Omni and a range of contact options are available including email, telephone and live chat. After my play I decided to close my account and live chat were able to deal with my issue straight away. I find often something like an account closure must be requested via email but the support representative dealt with my response quickly and politely. Although many people will never need to contact support it's good to know that help is there if things go wrong.
In conclusion I enjoyed my time at Omni Casino even though I didn't win anything. The Video Poker games are somewhat average in terms of selection and game presentation but the casino makes up for this with a great selection of slot and table games. With the extra arcade games thrown in for additional entertainment there's certainly a lot to keep a player occupied at Omni. I was impressed with the graphics on offer and the configurability of the casino makes playing even better – you can set up the games exactly as you want them! Cash handling is good and with a very responsive support team it's good to know help is always available if you want it. If you've not played Omni before I'd certainly say give it a go, particularly with the generous bonuses around to get even more play for your money. Who knows, maybe some of those progressive jackpots will end up going your way?!
