Online casinos are plentiful on the 'net as are sites trying to attract the poker player. Parbet actually fits in both these categories and the managing company focus equally on trying to offer a first class playing experience at both its poker and gaming tables. However, for the purposes of this review it was the casino side of things I was interested in and so headed over to that section of the site to see what the Malta-licensed casino had to offer.

Parbet is powered by Wagerlogic software which is getting rarer and rarer to find on the web. I'm not really sure why this is, although it's certainly nice to find sites that are using software different to the standard Microgaming or Playtech fare. The only slight downside of this software is that it's only available in a download form, although given most people now are on fast connections and along with the fact the best gaming experience is to be had with download software, this actually doesn't bother me too much.

The simply installation routine also is a welcome plus and literally within a few minutes the required software had downloaded and installed on my computer. Of course, since the software is now installed it means in the future I simply have to click the appropriate icon on my computer to get playing again; no waiting or messing around for me in the future!

As with a number of casinos Parbet attempts to entice players by offering bonus money for depositing. However, unlike many casinos Parbet simply look to offer a 'bonus for life' where players can choose to get a bonus for each and every month they are members of the casino. 100% bonuses are available up to $140 monthly for slot play and up to $70 monthly for table/slots play. As is to be expected wagering conditions are attached to these funds but for those that like more than a simple sign-up bonus Parbet may well be the way to go.

As it happens I chose not to use any of the bonuses – recently I've found myself hitting decent wins but not being able to cash-in because of wagering restrictions. As such, I simply funded my account with $100 of my hard-earned cash to have a play with. I happened to choose NeTeller to fund my account but a selection of deposit methods are available such as credit card along with other e-wallet solutions. All cash transactions are handled through ECash direct which will be familiar with any Wagerlogic players. This separate company specialises in e-transactions and as such players can be completely assured financial processing will happen quickly and easily. I like this approach as it means even below-par casinos (in terms of management) still offer top-notch cash handling. Of course, Parbet certainly doesn't fall in this 'below-par' category!

When in the main lobby a player is presented with an icon-driven display of the available games. A menu is also available to allow players to navigate to specific games (they are grouped by type). A bottom panel also provides a 'quick link' facility to assist players in getting to parts of the casino such as the cashier. This lobby isn't exactly enthralling but certainly meets and functional requirements which ultimately is its purpose.

A range of games is available at Parbet but as is often the case I began my play at the Blackjack tables. A nice touch at Parbet is that you can play with other players (if you select the multi-person option) or alternatively you can choose single or multi-hand tables where you play alone. This makes play very life-like as just in a real casino you can see how other people play (and laugh when they do silly things like split a 10-10!)

In terms of game presentation things are what I would term 'average'. A few years ago the Wagerlogic software was pretty cutting edge and the graphics were certainly on-par with what other casinos have to offer. However, whereas other casino software houses have stepped up their game, Wagerlogic seems to be still using their 'tried and tested' approach. Of course, this means the games are perfect in terms of game play and certainly a fun experience can be had. However, the slightly-dated graphics don't quite compare to what else is available. This is certainly tolerable though and I'd rather take smooth game play over buggy-but-pretty games any day. I also like the fact the software is user-configurable with things such as game speed, sound effects and even player warning user-controllable.

After my play at the Blackjack table (where I came away with my bankroll pretty much intact) I next checked out some of the other table games available. A good number of favourites can be found such as Three-Card Poker, Let-it-Ride, Caribbean Stud Poker and Baccarat. All of these are very similar in terms of presentation and as with the casino in general, a low-to-medium betting range is accepted (generally $2 to $50 for card games). There's some more hard-to-find games available too such as Casino Solitaire, although those who really want the cutting-edge new games will unfortunately have to look elsewhere. Parbet certainly seems to go with the 'if it ain't broke' approach to online gaming.

After my table game session I next checked out the Video Poker selection. Again a mix of casino favourites are to be found including Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild and Joker Poker. In terms of multi-hand games, pretty much every game can be played across 1, 3, 5 or 10 hands. Betting limits range from a coin size of $0.25 to $5. As such, a max-coin bet will cost between $1.25 and $25.00 which is pretty standard. Again though, those that like a more modern mix of machines will be slightly disappointed with Parbet. Nevertheless, these games live up to expectation and a fun game can certainly be had. I had a good time playing Deuces Wild games, particularly since the magic 2s seemed to keep appearing!

In fact, after all my table and video poker games I was pleasantly surprised to see my balance will still hovering around the $85 – definitely enough to give the slot games a good once over! In fact, I had been looking forward to playing the slot games ever since I downloaded the casino. This is because the makers of the casino have done a deal with Marvel of comic-book fame and as such a whole range of games are available themed around the world's favourite super heroes! Want a Hulk or Spiderman-themed slot? You can find it at Parbet!

What's more, these games offer players the chance to win progressive jackpots which are always good. Three jackpots are available to all players and offer jackpots of a few hundred dollars to many thousands. Of course, you need some luck to hit these, although the fact the games are extremely fun to play certainly helps. I got stuck in to the Hulk game and was lucky enough to activate the Hulk feature. This sees the Incredible Hulk go smashing things up with players rewarded for each successful attempt to withstand enemy attack. Even though I was betting just a couple of dollars a spin my win on this single bonus round paid more than $100 and shows that some decent money can be won on these games.

A range of UK-style fruit machine games are also available as well as the usual mix of mechanical-style and video-style slots. The graphics are all pretty decent as are the sound effects and although again a touch of sprucing-up wouldn't go amiss it's still very easy to get lost on the action. I remember when these games first came out I became very addicted to them and a quick play at Parbet soon got me sucked back in!

Thankfully I was able to end my gaming session on a high and had a balance of around $150 when I decided to call it a day. Cashing in is easy, although annoyingly ECash charge a small fee for each withdrawal made. Nevetheless, you cannot fault the payout speed and within less than 12 hours after making my withdrawal the funds I claimed were back in my NeTeller account. This is a great turnaround and although the software might be slightly aging, this fast no-hassle payout speed more than makes up for it.

The fast payouts and smooth game play means you'll probably never need to contact support. However, if you do support staff are contactable by email and also via telephone, although this latter option is only available for players in a small selection of countries. Although email support responses are very quick, I think more live-contact options should be made available, particularly for those who cannot use the toll-free number. However, the mere fact that support representatives are available 24/7 and seem to know what they are talking about reassures me and it's generally good to know that with Parbet you are in safe hands.

In conclusion, I enjoyed my experience at Parbet. The game selection and overall quality may not be 100% perfect, but it's certainly decent enough. More importantly though this casino is solid in terms of the important things like banking and support. No-nonsense cash handling and response support makes playing at this casino a very safe bet. For those that like somewhat no-frills gaming but where the overall experience is rock solid Parbet definitely hits the spot. Throw in the $140 monthly bonuses and I can see why people would choose to play here. And of course, there's always the Poker room if Hulk takes all your money!
