Playgate Casino Review

Playgate Casino:

I'm a big fan of Playtech casinos, and looked forward to having a go at Playgate Casino. However it turned out that most of my bets here went down like a granny on a frosty morning.

After I downloaded (the file size is 320 kb and was a quick, smooth installation) and registered my account, I funded it with $50 and collected my 100% bonus of $50, which was added instantly to my balance.

One of the first things to always do when you play with a bonus, is the check on the terms and conditions to see which games are allowed and how many times you must wager before cashing out. On the website, it states that the bonus is for wagering requirements only and may not be withdrawn. This is called a Sticky Bonus. I'm not fond of this rule, but there are a good deal of casinos using it at present. The actual wagering requirements are quite fair though, being 8 times your deposit and bonus - though Craps, Roulette, War, Sic bo, 4-line Video Poker and Baccarat do not count towards wagering. Some casinos make you play through as much as 20 times or more.

The first games I wanted to play at Playgate Casino was their Video Poker, so I started with Joker Poker. In most games of Joker Poker, you should expect to hit at least one 4 of a kind and get a good amount of play time. But here, I never hit more than 3 of a kind! I kept playing hoping my luck would change - but it didn't. I had gone through almost $50 before switching over to Deuces Wild, where I didn't have any better luck. This was a great disappointment. I ended up having to deposit more money, claiming a 50% deposit bonus for my second deposit, which was also added immediately.

With Video Poker being so cold, I decided to try my hand at some of the Slots offered. My first choice at Playtech casinos is nearly always Chinese Kitchen, but this time I tried my hand at Goblin's Cave which is a 3 reel 3 row multi spin slot game. This game features a bonus round in which you have to get 3 Lanterns to enter the bonus round. One twist that I really liked is that you have a chance at playing more than one bonus round in a spin. For instance, if you line up 3 Lanterns on one line, and 3 on another line, you get to play two Bonus Rounds. Once in the Bonus Round, you pick from one of the chests on the screen and it opens to reveal your prize credits. You can play for as little as $0.01 per line, all the way up to $5.00.

After Goblin's Cave I went to Treasures of Egypt, which is a 5 Reel 5 line Slot game that offers play starting at $0.05 up to $5.00. I chose to bet $0.10 and bet all lines - which added up to $2.00 per spin. I did fairly well with several nice wins. What impressed me about this game was that my money seemed to last much longer, the payoffs were good, and they were consistent. This may be a new favorite for me.

Another game that I found very interesting was Blackjack Surrender. I've played many games of Blackjack in my life, including a few odd variations, but I find that Blackjack Surrender is by far the most exciting because of the great twist of being able to 'Surrender' your first two cards if you decide they aren't worth playing, and you only lose half your bet. I'm not a high roller by any stretch of the imagination, but it's good to see that the maximum bets in online casinos such as Playgate have been increasing. Here, you can bet as much as $300 per hand, and with the odds in Blackjack you could stand to win a good amount of money. There is also Multi Player and Multi Table options available for some of their table games.

I had a little money left and decided to go back to Video Poker to see if my luck had changed, and I began playing Aces and Faces video poker. With this game you have the opportunity when you get 4 of a Kind to win more money than with other types of Video Poker. For instance, in most Video Poker games a 4 of a Kind will pay you 125 credits. In Aces and Faces, the payoff depends on the value of the 4 cards. If you get 4 2's through 10's you'll get the normal 125 credits, if you get 4 J's through K's you'll get 200 credits, but if you are lucky enough to hit 4 Aces you get 400 credits. This time though, the games were still not favoring me with big wins.

I'm usually always willing to give a casino a second or third chance, and I'll likely be back to Playgate Casino, but not for a while. As with all Playtech Casinos, you get some great games and all the most popular depositing methods - and Playgate is no different. I chose to make my deposits through NETeller, it's always fast and secure. They also accept FirePay, Moneybookers, Citadel, Paysafe Card, 900 Pay, Instadebit, UseMyBank, Click2Pay, Central Coin, Visa, and more. You can choose from most of the same methods when you withdraw your winnings too.

One aspect of any casino that I expect to be superb is the customer support. This is crucial to any business, with online casinos especially, players want to know that their concerns or issues are dealt with in a prompt and courteous manner, by professionals. It's a matter of trust. I won't deposit my money unless I'm convinced that the casino cares enough to satisfy my inquiries. I'm pleased to say that Playgate Casino responded promptly to my question with an accurate answer. You can contact customer support by several means, phone, email or fax 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Game selection is a close second for being the most important aspect of a casino. Playgate Casino offers 70 games. Each casino also has at least one game that is unique to that particular casino. At Playgate Casino, it's Playgate Slots and also Treasures of Egypt. Among the other games you'll find Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, variations of 21, Video Poker such as Aces and Faces, Joker Poker, Jacks or Better, and lots of Slots to choose from like Alien Alert, Bermuda Triangle, Highway Kings, Golden Tour, Wall Street Fever and many more. The coin denominations start as little as $0.01 and go up to $5.00 in some of the Slots and Video Poker games. The table and card games can go up as high as $300 per hand.

All in all I found Playgate Casino to have good quality graphics and sound effects, a great game selection and top notch customer support. My only qualm was the 'coldness' of the games, but it happens. I haven't heard anything negative about the casino on my visits to the gambling forums, and for the most part people seem to enjoy the casino.
