Slots.LV Review

When Online-Casinos.com asked me to review Slots.LV, I have to say it wasn’t a site that I had heard of before. A little research suggested this is probably because it’s a fairly new-comer to the world of online casinos, having launched in 2013. With over 160 different games though, provided by a number of platform providers, this site is slowly but surely building a fan base and I was keen to see what Slots.LV had to offer.

Slots.LV has a range of games available to play directly via a player’s browser. Many of these are even mobile compatible meaning any player with a reasonably up-to-date phone and network connection can play a range of mobile games on the go. This definitely has its appeal, although I can imagine a degree of self-control is needed to ensure you don’t start gambling during a boring meeting at work! That said, a download client is also available (around 6mb in size) offering players access to the full suite of available games.
As with a number of sites, Slots.LV has decided not to license its games for players from the United Kingdom, and players from other territories (e.g. China, France, Germany amongst others) are also forbidden from playing here. The vast majority of players are welcomed here though, including those from the United States of America and Canada, and sign-up is a breeze with just a simple form-based questionnaire needing to be completed to be up and running.

Unfortunately, depositing to play at Slots.LV might not be so straight forward – mainly because of the extremely limited number of deposit options available. Credit cards (including pre-pay cards) are accepted, and for Canadian players a handful of other options are too (Bill, Interac e-transfer and Direct Bank Transfer), but that’s it. No e-wallets or other deposit options can be used, so funding an account could take a bit of work.

For those that like bonus money though, finding a way to fund your account could well be worth it. Slots.LV offers an absolutely huge sign-up bonus with a Slots-only 200% match worth up to $1000 available. This is then followed by 8 more 100% matches worth $500 each. I’ve rarely seen a bonus this massive and even though the bonus requires 35 x (deposit + bonus) playthrough before withdrawals are allowed, those that don’t mind taking a gamble could literally get hours of play with this promotion. Sadly table / Video Poker games players are not catered for on the bonus front, and those that do claim the bonus should note any play outside of Slots / Keno / Scratchcards will immediately void any winnings.

Deciding I didn’t want to be tied down to any onerous conditions, I decided to make a small, bonus-free deposit. My deposit went through without issue and within a few seconds of confirming my deposit amount, my account was showing the appropriate credit. Interestingly, shortly after registering my account I was actually contacted by the casino asking me to send the usual set of verification documents. I thought this was good, particularly since many casinos wait until a first withdrawal is logged (a time when players are usually itching to reverse and play more). To get the whole identification and verification piece done upfront is welcomed.

When it comes to the Slots.LV site itself, functionally-speaking it works well; players can easily navigate between games, the cashier and the ‘my account’ section where certain preferences and personal details can be set and updated. I just felt though that Slots.LV felt slightly ‘basic’ when compared to some of the competition. The website is quite ‘blocky’ and feels like it is slightly lacking in elegance. Of course, this is very much a personal preferences thing, and for those that take functionality over glitz and glamour, the Slots.LV design might really be appealing.
Of course, what really matters is the games themselves and Slots.LV has a decent range to choose from. Games are broken down in to the now-standard set of Slots, Table and VP sub categories, with each offering a wealth of gaming options. Having recently been hitting well on slots, I decided to give this area a whirl first of all.

Slots.LV hosts games from Real Time Gaming, Betsoft and Genesis Gaming, as well as offering a set of bespoke, home-grown games. This means players are somewhat spoilt for choice when it comes to games selection. The usual mix of classic-style, video and progressive slots are all on offer here. Many come with progressive jackpots too (including a number of ‘random’ jackpots that can be awarded at any time). At the time of playing, the It’s Good To Be Bad (download only) slot jackpot was standing at over $100,000, a nice jackpot in anybody’s books.

I tried out the slightly-surreal Zombies vs. Cheerleaders video slot which features 5-reels of graphics and exciting bonus rounds. The cool thing about this game is it pays both left-to-right and right-to-left, so even if the first couple of reels don’t match, there is still the opportunity to bag a decent win. Furthermore, landing 3 or more scatters on the screen triggers the bonus round where players have the chance to earn big in the ‘Zombies gone Wild’ or ‘Cheerleader Escapes’ feature games. Sadly I wasn’t able to hit either (and in fact, payouts for me in general were pretty dire) but this game was certainly a fun way to start.

Games such as Greedy Goblins also helped keep me entertained, although I did note that some of the other games were less up-to-date in terms of graphics and sound effects. In fact, the quality of games at Slots.LV is really mixed, particularly with the browser-based games from Real Time Gaming. These haven’t been updated in years, and to be honest games such as the Blackjack game I went on to play later really are quite basic in terms of look and feel. That said, payout percentages on some of the Slots.LV games are pretty neat (over 99.5% for the Blackjack game) so I supposed elongated play might be worth taking over fancy graphics.

Unfortunately I really couldn’t get going on any of the slot games – my luck just wasn’t in. The games are varied though and, in general, are good fun though and with many offering random jackpots I can see the appeal. Classic games such as 7s and Stripes kept me playing, even if it wasn’t my day for the big pay out.

Sadly my luck continued to sink on the Video Poker games, although again a good selection of games are on offer. Players can choose between single hand and multi-hand games, and the 52-hand Joker Poker game definitely gave me a good amount of play. I can see how a decent starting hand could really lead to big winnings on this one, although again the visuals on the game could definitely do with some improvement.

When it came to the table games, a slightly smaller array of options is available for the player. There are still 15 games to choose from though, and these include popular options such as Blackjack and Roulette as well as harder-to-find games such as Pai Gow Poker. I had great fun on the Zapit game, and although this game sees a banker ‘push’ on a normally-losing 22 hand, in return players get the chance to ‘zap away’ 14, 15 and 16 total starting hands in the hope of getting better cards. I like the appeal of this one, and certainly value the chance to ‘start again’ when I see that dreaded 16 hand landing on my play spot. With games such as Single-spot Blackjack accepting wagers of between $1 and $500, most players should find a game with limits to suit their play here.

On this occasion I didn’t have anything to cash out from my Slots.LV account. I did though check out the pay out policy at the site, although what I found actually surprised me. Slots.LV states that first withdrawals each month are processed without incurring any fees (as long as the amount is over $250). However, each subsequent withdrawal in the month incurs a $50 processing fee. This seems extremely high and as such we’d definitely advise players think about the way they make withdrawals so as not to incur unnecessary costs. When it comes to withdrawal methods itself, Slots.LV offers payout via courier check, VISA credits or direct bank transfer. In general withdrawals take a mediocre 4-7 business days to process.

When it comes to support, I didn’t, during my play session, have need for asking for assistance. However, support is available via a single US toll-free number as well as an email-in form. The website claims to respond to queries within around 4 hours which is acceptable. It’d just be good to see more toll-free numbers for other countries, or even to have live chat assistance available.

In general, Slots.LV seems like a distinctly middle-of-the-road casino in my view. It’s definitely not a top-game site, although I can still see the appeal with the game selection being strong and the bonus offering being definitely of interest. I just think the site needs a bit of a shake-up in terms of general look and feel; many of the games feel dated, although certainly they operate correctly and fairly. My biggest gripe is with the $50 charge for withdrawals – I just cannot see how this is justified, even if this site operates in ‘difficult’ regions such as the US.

Certainly this casino is fair and above-board but for me there is just too much choice elsewhere that pips Slots.LV. That said, for those that like the games or where choice is limited, Slots.LV may still be the one for you. With a massive 200% sign-up bonus it could still be worth giving this place a spin!
